Ian Swanson brings a unique blend of experience in media, public policy, and communications. A fourth-generation Nebraskan, Ian grew up in Omaha. He’s a product of Millard Public Schools and a graduate of Hillsdale College. His career has included communications and outreach roles with two U.S. Senators from Nebraska. He also worked for Nebraska Farm Bureau, advocating for Nebraska agriculture.
Ian is also well known in Nebraska media circles. He previously hosted the afternoon drive show on News Radio 1110 KFAB, where he built a strong following and regularly interviewed David Brooks, introducing many listeners to Retire SMART long before joining the firm. His background in radio and public communication continues to shape how he connects with clients today.
Ian’s path to Retire SMART is personal. His father, Sean, is a longtime advisor with the firm. Inspired by the impact he saw, Ian made the transition to help great people make SMART decisions so they can live amazing lives.
Ian and his wife, Narel, a Brazil native and former college basketball player, have three young children and are active in their church and community.
